How a Case is Evaluated
When tragedy strikes, the question that burns on the mind most
is simply this -- "Why?" Why did the doctor miss the
diagnosis? Why did the surgery or medicine not work? Why did my
loved one die or suffer brain damage? These are questions that must be
answered first.
Following the initial client interview, the relevant medical
and hospital records are obtained. The records are then reviewed by Bill
Liebbe with the assistance of his wife Donna, a registered nurse. As the
records begin to reveal a story, the medical literature is reviewed to give Bill a keen understanding of the anatomy, physiology, pathology, diagnostic
tests, treatment and prognosis of the disease, injury or illness in question.
Physicians and other health professionals may then be consulted to more fully
understand and answer the question -- why?
Once we determine why the doctor missed the diagnosis, why the
medicine or surgery did not work, or why your loved one died or suffered brain
damage -- then and only then can a determination be made as to whether the
tragedy was a result of medical malpractice or an unexpected and unintended
result despite good medical care. For this determination we turn to
fair, unbiased and honest physicians who care enough about the quality of
medical care and treatment in this country to simply tell us their true and
honest opinion. If the physician consultant tells us the doctors or
hospitals negligence caused a preventable or unavoidable tragedy we
immediately begin preparation of the case for trial. The client is fully
informed regardless of the opinion obtained.
