- Must announce on Thursdays or before 10:30 a.m. Fridays the week prior
to trial. Unless instructed otherwise by a specific court. (Not
Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday)
- Must announce to the Court Coordinator, Not to the Court Clerk, Unless
specifically instructed to do so.
- Must give an estimate of length of trial. This means the entire
trial, not just one side.
- Must justify any announcement of "Not Ready".
- Must understand that plaintiffs announcement of "Not Ready"
may be grounds for Dismissal for Want of Prosecution. (See Dallas Civil
Court Rule 1.20c)
- Must understand when an announcement of settlement is made this means
the case is settled. You have 30 days to provide the court with the
final order. Failure to provide a final order will result in the
court entering a dismissal order which taxes the cost against the party
incurring same. Announcements of settlement are not made when the
case is partially settled or if the settlement is based on a condition.
- Must advise the court of any potential conflicts or problems that might
interfere with the trial.
- Must advise the court of any out of state clients/witnesses and the need
for additional trial notice.
- Must provide current phone numbers of where you may be reached.
- Must be able to identify the case number, style and party you represent.
- Must announce on Non Jury cases in the same manner as jury cases unless
you receive alternative instructions from the Court. (See Dallas Civil
Court Rule 1.28)
